Al-Shifā’ Abaya

Al-Shifā’, a slave girl of the emir ‘Abd al-Raḥmān II b. al-Ḥakam; He freed and married her. She was among the most intelligent, beautiful, pious, gracious and noble women.

She built the mosque that is located in the center of the western suburbs of Cordoba. She raised and cared for her husband’s son, the future emir Muḥammad b. ‘Abd al-Raḥmān.
